Images of God Suggested by Our Evolving Universe
Traditionally our theology, spirituality, and images of God were influenced by the ancient Hebrew understanding of God's Universe. In this 21st Century we have a totally new understanding and so our theology, spirituality, and images of God need to change. John Surette S.J., who was a speaker for our Backyard Theology series this summer, will return to expand on this theme. It will be presented in a somewhat meditative style. The talk and discussion will be on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 7:30 PM in the Pine Room. All are welcome. Sponsored by the Adult Formation committee.
Book of the Month
The Prince
The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli, written 1505-1515, will be the book for discussion on Tuesday, Dec.1 at 7:30PM in Room 215 in the Parish Center. Ray Chwasz will lead the discussion. He says the author has given us clear ways to identify those individuals and groups that believe in grabbing power and wealth ruthlessly and amorally, and shows the difference between the public persona and the actual goals. The 42 page book is available free on-line at http://www.constitution.org/mac/prince00.htm. Copies will be available at Maze Library. Ray can be contacted at (708)220-5692 or rchwasz@gmail.com for a text file. If you've read the book, you are welcome. Sponsored by the Adult Formation Committee.

Backyard Theology
Backyard Theology is a summer evening lecture series centered around a different topic each summer. Topics have included New Movement in the Catholic Church, Christian Ecology, and Getting to Know Our Inter-faith Neighbors. In the photo above, Father Richard Woods, OP, discusses the biblical foundations of ecology.
