An Invitation to the Men of Ascension Parish to be
Part of a “Christ Renews His Parish” Weekend
We would like to invite the men of Ascension Parish--men who are seeking a difference in their lives--for a weekend of renewal. We will enjoy each other’s fellowship, explore the Gospel and how it impacts our lives, and pray for grace. With renewed grace, we hope to impact our families and communities in a meaningful way. This is how Christ renews his parish.
What is a CRHP Renewal?
Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP, often pronounced “Chirp”) is a parish-based retreat program that is recommended by the National Conference of Catholic Bishops. The weekend is about 30 hours long, running from 8 o’clock on Saturday morning until sometime mid-Sunday afternoon.
It is a time to relax, pray, and rethink priorities.
It is a time to get to know others in the parish and grow as a community.
It is an opportunity to examine, rediscover, and /or intensify your
personal relationship with Christ.
It is a weekend of reflection and sharing of spiritual and real life issues.
What Happens during the Renewal?
The Renewal format involves short talks-called witnesses--given by members of the CRHP team, which is comprised entirely of Ascension parishioners. You will be in small groups to reflect upon those talks and discuss how they may be relevant to your life and your spiritual growth. Sacraments (Mass and Reconciliation) are a part of the weekend as well.
Who facilitates the weekend?
The members of the CRHP team are Fred Brandstrader, Jay Champelli, Dan Doody, John Dwyer, Bill Komala, Bill Kucera, Jack Marchetti, Ed Rubio, Jim Schwarber, Mark Winters, and Don Woznica.
When is the weekend?
Saturday May 1st to Sunday May 2nd, 2010
What is the cost of the weekend?
There is no cost to participants. The weekend is a gift from the CRHP team and the parish to you.
What about meals?
Breakfasts, lunches, dinner and snacks will be provided. If you have any special dietary needs, please indicate this when you register.
Where will I sleep?
Sleeping accommodations will be in the Pine Room or at the School. You are asked to bring a pillow, blankets, and something to sleep on (cot, sleeping bag, air mattress, etc.) By staying on parish grounds on Saturday night, we increase our bond of faith as a parish community.
What should I wear?
Casual, comfortable clothing is all that is needed.
Who may attend?
The weekend is open to all men of Ascension who are at least 18 years of age. However, the number of participants that we can accommodate is limited.
