Parish Life 2009 -10

Parishioners of all ages enjoyed a great fish feast at our first of two fish frys for Lent 2010. Mark Winter and his fry crew did an excellent job and teams from Peace and Justice and AWC did an excellent job in the "front of the house." Mark your calendar for March 26 when we'll enjoy our second fish fry for the year. All fish proceeds benefit our Lenten project.

Ascension enjoyed the Sixth Annual Fall Festival produced by the Ascension Women's Cooperative. We bought pumpkins from the Religious Ed board to take home for our jack-o-lanterns and enjoyed a gorgeous fall day on top of it. Our best bakers and chili makers vied for ribbons, we competed for great raffle prizes, lined up for a tasty lunch and had a great time. Thanks, AWC!

Forget your troubles, Ascension, and get happy!

Ascension enjoyed a great show when parisioners took to the Pine Room stage in April.  Many thanks to producer Fred Brandstrader who encouraged some of the talented among us to get involved.  Were you inspired?  Pull out your tap shoes, dust off your accordian:  the show will return April 17, 2010 so you have plenty of time to rehearse!

Auditions for the 2010 show will be held on Friday, February 12 at 7 and Saturday, February 13 at 1 in the Pine Room. We welcome all talented folks sixteen and over who have an act ready for the Pine Room stage! Click here to be re-directed to the variety show powers that be!

Bags 2009

Who knew that throwing bean bags at boards with holes in them could be such a blast?  Brian Fitzgerald and Paul Seavey knew, so they gathered a few other bags fans and then invited the parish & friends.  Eighty people competed at Ascension's first bags event, and despite the cold it was a great time.

Bags will be back: mark your calendar for Saturday, May 15, 2010. Like to help? Click here to get in touch with the Bags Guys!

bags11 It fell to Bill Mackie to keep track of the brackets.  Also on the bags administration team:  Ron McEachan, Peg Mackie, Pat Hess, Barb Fitzgerald, Kate Seavey.  The Hanrahan boys came out on top in the competition. John (Class of 1968) brought his sons and they took the green by storm.  It was interesting to compare styles.  While we did not capture it on film, we believe that Jim Farlee had the most intriguing form on the playing field.  Stay tuned; we know bags will be back!
